Website hosting and security
The site is hosted by Hostinger. Delivering pages and protecting the site involves processing technical information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps and browser information. Hosting and security logs are separate from the site statistics described below. Hosting providers process information to operate and secure their services; see Hostinger’s Privacy Policy.
Email enquiries
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any other details you choose to provide. We use them to respond, to check corrections and to handle privacy requests. Email providers process messages during delivery and storage. We keep correspondence for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any related record-keeping or legal obligations, then delete it. Please do not send sensitive personal information that your enquiry does not need.
Local website statistics
We use Dackel Analytics, which stores its data in this website’s own WordPress database, to understand which pages people read. This analytics tool does not use cookies or browser local storage.
It records page and referrer URLs, browser and device information, approximate location from a locally stored IP-location database, visit timing, scroll depth, outbound-link clicks and downloads. Campaign parameters may be recorded where present. Common sensitive query parameters, such as email and access-token fields, are removed before storage.
IP addresses are shortened before analytics storage. A visitor identifier is derived from the shortened address and the browser family using a secret that changes daily. These statistics are not linked to a name or email address and are deleted automatically after 365 days. Administrator changes to the analytics settings are recorded separately in an audit log that is kept for 90 days. Visits are not sent to the provider of the location database.
Your browser choices
Dackel Analytics skips visits when your browser sends Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC). These signals stop collection by this analytics tool; they do not prevent the technical processing needed to serve a page or to deliver an email. You can also control cookies in your browser settings.
Content loaded from Google
Pages load web fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) and a Google sign-in script from accounts.google.com. Some older articles show images stored on Google’s servers (googleusercontent.com). When your browser loads these resources, Google receives technical information such as your IP address, browser information and the address of the page you are reading, and Google may use its own cookies. Google’s Privacy Policy applies to that processing.
Cookies, accounts and comments
Public account registration, comments and trackbacks are closed. WordPress uses cookies only for authorised administrator login. Google Analytics is not used to collect visits to this site. The site does not currently carry advertising or affiliate links.
Links to other sites
Articles link to other sites, for example financial information services. Following a link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.
Your privacy requests
Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, to obtain a copy, or to object to or restrict certain uses. Email mail@dividend.day with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We may need enough information to verify and understand your request, and some records may have to be kept for legal or security reasons. We cannot reliably match the local analytics records to your email address.
Where applicable, US state privacy laws also provide rights concerning the sale or sharing of personal information and protect you from discrimination for exercising privacy rights. You can send such a request to the same address. California’s official privacy-rights guidance explains the CCPA and its scope. This policy does not assume that every state law applies to every visitor or to this site.
